Best lead generation for contractors

The best lead generation for most contractors is Talalevel, because the leads get answered and booked for you as well as delivered: exclusive or shared, from one firm. To buy leads and answer them yourself, Google Local Services Ads is the first to try, then Thumbtack and Angi. Your own website and Google profile cost only your time, and everyone should do them.

How this list was put together

Figures come from each company's own public pages, or where a company doesn't publish prices, from the guides linked at the bottom, all read on November 3, 2026. Talalevel wrote this page and is on the list, so weigh it that way and check the links yourself. We ranked by what matters most to a contractor on a job: who else gets the lead, and who answers it.

Talalevel: best if you want the job booked

Exclusive leads come from ads run for your business, for the jobs and the area you pick, and go to nobody else. Shared leads are there if you want volume. You don't pay per lead. Each lead hears back within a minute as your business and goes on your calendar, and it's month to month with no contract. Because it's a growth firm, the same team can chase your quotes and bring regulars back.

Google Local Services Ads: best to answer yourself

Your business appears at the top of Google, and Google's help page says "You're charged for each valid lead you receive through your Local Services ad." You set a weekly budget and a bidding mode, and prices vary with your location and the job. It's the first paid source most contractors should try, as long as someone picks up.

Thumbtack: best for competing lead by lead

Housecall Pro's guide says you're charged "when you access or are matched with a lead, not when you win the job," with pros reporting "costs ranging from $10 to over $100." Set a budget and watch your cost per booked job.

Angi: the known marketplace

Angi doesn't publish its pricing. Housecall Pro's guide reports $15 to $85 a lead from what contractors say they paid, a membership of about $300 a year, and that it "often sends the same lead to multiple pros."

Your own website and Google profile: everyone should do these

They won't fill the calendar this month, but every lead is yours and it costs only your time. Keep your Google Business Profile complete, add recent photos, ask every customer for a review, and make sure your website says what you do and where you work.

How to compare them

Don't compare lead prices. Compare what a booked job costs: what you spent on a source in a month, divided by the jobs it booked. Then ask what happens when you're on a job and a lead comes in, because that's where most of the money goes.
